Most current anti-virus software uses blacklists and signature updates. The blacklist approach is a reactive approach in nature, which requires continuous analysis for new malware and the creation of new “signatures” and/or intrusion detection algorithms. It requires the distribution of black lists (in the form of updated signatures and/or parameters) and therefore systems which have not been fully updated will remain unprotected.

The uncomfortable truth is that new malware is usually not detected until it has infected someone. This means that traditional anti-virus solutions do not protect you from new malware. Not until the new malware signature has been added to their ‘blacklists’, those ‘signature updates’ you get every few weeks, effectively closing the Zero Day vulnerability. This “window of detection” is wide enough for the hackers to make handsome profits with each new malware, as it will still manage to infect a large enough number of systems.
Our patented security engine turns the tables on the hackers, by enforcing developers’ accountability at a fine-grained level, such as process and operating system API in real-time, not just when an application is launched.

The challenge with ransomware is that it only needs a few minutes to fully lock all the files in a computer, to then request a ransom payment. Traditional anti-virus solutions will typically need a few days to detect a new ransomware in the wild. By the time these solutions will attempt to clean the infected system it will be too late, as the data is already locked.
Our patented technology novel approach is highly effective against ransomware because it turns the tables on the hackers. Rather than blocking known malware, it sandboxes any software application which is not digitally signed by its developers. Our product has been designed from the ground up to support multiple versions of a given operating system, regardless of the number of users. This is particularly relevant for users that for whatever reason are happy to continue using older versions of an operating system, because most traditional security vendors will not support them.
Particularly among small and mid-size businesses, there are often computer systems that are only used for a specific function, from registration desks to visual panel controls to printer servers. Unless also protected, the whole business is at risk because all these machines are in the same network. We believe it is our responsibility to support these legacy operating systems to fully protect our customers. And this is something we can do more effectively than the traditional security vendors because we do not need large numbers of users effectively detecting new malware for us.

Real-time sandboxing of malicious applications
Our patented security engine takes a novel approach to protecting a computer. Rather than blocking applications which are known to be malicious, or blacklisted, it enforces authentication via digital signature for software with functionality that is “necessary” for malware to be effective. Unsigned software will still be allowed to run, but under a very fine-grained real-time sandbox (at kernel API level). Further, it also ensures in real-time that the chain of execution, including dynamically loaded modules, are all authorised before giving full rights (i.e. no weak link policy).
